We use platforms that have signed Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) as required by HIPAA, ensuring that all patient communications are encrypted in transit and at rest. Your telehealth sessions are private, secure, and not recorded without your explicit written consent.
Email and standard text messaging are not inherently secure and are not HIPAA-compliant. We use secure messaging systems for clinical communications. If you contact us through our website contact form or by email for general inquiries, please avoid including sensitive health information. For secure clinical communications, patients are directed to use our designated secure messaging platform provided during onboarding.
California's CMIA (Cal. Health & Safety Code § 56 et seq.) provides protections for medical information that are in some cases stricter than federal HIPAA requirements. We comply fully with the CMIA. Under California law:

Freed.AI operates under a signed HIPAA Business Associate Agreement and processes audio from telehealth sessions solely for the purpose of generating draft clinical notes.

You have the right to opt out of AI-assisted documentation. To opt out, send a written request to gretchen.genato@quantumbluenursing.com stating that you do not consent to the use of Freed.AI for your sessions. Your opt-out will be noted in your chart and honored at all future appointments. Opting out does not affect the quality of your care. You may change your preference at any time in writing.
We may disclose information as required by applicable law, court order, subpoena, or government regulation, including mandatory reporting obligations required under California law (e.g., child or elder abuse reporting, Tarasoff duty-to-warn obligations).
